Explore Rhythmic Dreaming at the Edge of a Storyline, a powerful solo exhibition by Jillian Knipe, hosted at The Handbag Factory. This exhibition features nine abstract paintings from Knipe's RESILIENCE series (2022-2024), along with a sound sculpture and a mirror installation. Inspired by mythological, historical, and contemporary female figures, the artworks evoke themes of survival, recovery, and resilience, with each painting acting as a chapter in a larger narrative.

The show’s focus on collective healing and recovery is highlighted by the accompanying sound piece, which reflects the importance of community support in overcoming trauma. The mirror installation invites viewers to become part of the story, symbolizing self-reflection and inclusivity.

Don’t miss the chance to attend the Artist Talk on Saturday, 16th November, where Jillian Knipe will be joined by Dan Howard-Birt (Artist, Teacher, Curator). Howard-Birt’s work spans painting and exhibition making, and he will provide unique insights into the creative process. His paintings often incorporate works by other artists, cut into the surface of his own canvas, exploring layers of meaning and collaboration. He has exhibited at Exeter Phoenix, Trafalgar Avenue, and Dentons Art Prize, and curated shows for Kingsgate Project Space and Kestle Barton. He has also written on Georges Braque, instability in painting, and the role of exhibitions in contemporary art.

An essay by Elizabeth Fullerton (Author, Art Critic, Podcaster) accompanies the exhibition, offering further context and analysis of Knipe's work.
